Dear Oneonta Middle School Community,
I want to extend a very warm welcome to the students and parents of Oneonta Middle School. The middle school years are an exciting time when children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. Each year provides important transitions and acquisitions of new skills. I value the social and emotional development of each child as they transition through early adolescence. Oneonta Middle School is committed to providing a challenging, rigorous curriculum and a safe environment for students to develop.
As the principal of OMS, I believe that it is my responsibility to build and maintain a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school. Together as a school community, we will build on the traditions of the past and meet the challenges of the future in innovative and exciting ways. Our students' success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community, and this is more important now than ever. It truly does take a village to raise a child, and at Oneonta Middle School, we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture and Team OMS greatly appreciates the support you provide for your children.
Remote Learning - Thursday and Friday, January 13 & 14, 2022
Due to increasing absences of employees and students, all Oneonta City Schools will transition to Remote Learning tomorrow and Friday. Students will not report to school tomorrow, Jan. 13 or Friday, Jan. 14. Since schools were scheduled to be closed this coming Monday, Jan. 17, this means students' first day back will be next Tuesday, Jan. 18. All employees will support learning from home and we'll use this time to clean and sanitize our building.
STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 2022
We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and break from school.
On Wednesday, January 5th, students will return to school to continue in-person learning.
As a reminder, masks are required to be worn by any student being transported on a school bus.
At this time, masks are not required in the school building, but we strongly encourage students to wear masks in the hallways and classrooms, along with handwashing and social distancing to combat the spread of the COVID or flu virus. We will continue to monitor health issues in our area and will inform you if further action is required. Thank you.
