Oneonta Middle School

Committed to Excellence for our Students and Community

OMS Welcome

  • Dear Oneonta Middle School Community,

I want to extend a very warm welcome to the students and parents of Oneonta Middle School.  The middle school years are an exciting time when children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning.  Each year provides important transitions and acquisitions of new skills.  I value the social and emotional development of each child as they transition through early adolescence. Oneonta Middle School is committed to providing a challenging, rigorous curriculum and a safe environment for students to develop.

As the principal of OMS, I believe that it is my responsibility to build and maintain a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school.  Together as a school community, we will build on the traditions of the past and meet the challenges of the future in innovative and exciting ways. Our students' success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community, and this is more important now than ever. It truly does take a village to raise a child, and at Oneonta Middle School, we value teamwork and collaboration! Education is a joint venture and Team OMS greatly appreciates the support you provide for your children.

    Thank you!

    Leigha Rogers
    OMS Principal

At Oneonta City Schools, we value our out-of-district students and families.  As we prepare for a new school year with you, we want to make you aware of a policy change.  Non-resident students now must apply when they enter the school system, and then re-apply before 3rd grade, before 6th grade, and before 9th grade.  This allows principals to review non-resident status at critical checkpoints and as students enter each new school.

If your student is entering 3rd, 6th, or 9th grade as a non-resident Oneonta City Schools student for the 2022-2023 school year, you are required to complete a non-resident enrollment application. We encourage you to complete the re-application process by submitting the application to the appropriate school office by June 3, 2022.  Please note, the earliest official approval for continued enrollment will be voted by the Board of Education at their June 27th meeting.  Applications returned after June 3, 2022 could be voted on at the July 25, 2022 board meeting.

We encourage and appreciate your prompt action to have the application returned to the appropriate school office by June 3.  The $500 non-resident enrollment fee for all students is due by June 30, 2022.  Payments can be submitted or mailed to our Central Office at 28370 State Highway 75, Oneonta.  Please contact our office if you have any questions.
