Volunteers

Oneonta City Schools is excited to welcome volunteers who help make our schools and activities successful! To help ensure the safety of our students, we have implemented a new volunteer background check process.

Effective immediately, all individuals who volunteer in roles that involve working with students must complete a background check through our new provider, BCHEX. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Volunteer coaches
• Band camp volunteers
• Parents assisting with classroom or school activities
• Volunteers who drive equipment trucks for school teams
• Volunteers helping build stage sets or assist with performances
• Any other volunteer who works directly with students and is not employed by Oneonta City Schools

The background check process is simple:

1. Click the volunteer application link below.
2. Scan your driver's license as prompted.
3. Submit the required $19 background check fee.

Most background checks are completed within 1–3 business days, with many being returned within just one day.
