The Oneonta City School System is working to provide a blended distance instruction/learning program for our students for the remainder of the 2019 – 2020 school year. The instruction for students will consist of online lessons, video lessons from teachers and some printed/written materials. The instruction will provide enrichment and reinforce core academic standards to help prepare students for the next school year. A survey was used to gain information and determine the availability of technology in the student household. The survey helped our administrators and teachers guide and plan the mode of lesson delivery. We will work to finalize grades for the current school year as we review and implement the plan for instruction and learning. Our goal is to assist students in the best possible way to help them learn while they are away from the traditional school setting.

For the seniors of Oneonta High School, we will continue to plan and prepare to acknowledge the accomplishments of this outstanding class of students! It is our plan in the near future to announce a time for Commencement and other senior events that are recognized as traditions in our community. Due to the current pandemic we are unable to finalize any such plans at this time but we will work to celebrate the accomplishments of these seniors as soon as we can.

I want to thank the members of the Oneonta City Board of Education, our Central Office Staff, Administrators, Teachers and Support Staff for their hard work and dedication for our students and community. Everyone associated with our school has contributed to helping develop plans to meet the needs of our students going forward. I also want to thank our students and parents for your help and understanding during this unusual time. Finally, I especially want to thank our first responders and health care workers who are sacrificing so much for our town and community, as well as our state and our nation. Thank You!

Go Redskins!
