In an effort to meet the needs of our students, I want to ask parents to complete a “Distance Learning” survey to determine the availability of technology in students’ households and to receive other information to best serve each student.  Parents of students in grades K-5 will receive a link to the survey from their child’s homeroom teacher.  Students in grades 6-12 will receive a link to the survey via the students’ school email account.  Also, a link to the survey is located on the Oneonta City Schools District Website.  Please complete a survey for each student and submit it by 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 1.  The information from the survey is vital in the way that we prepare instruction for our students.  Instruction for students will begin on Monday, April 6.

Please complete this Distance Learning Survey by Wednesday, April 1, 3:00 pm:  https://forms.gle/yew5x8vzCkoNRY6z7

Oneonta City Schools will remain closed until Monday, April 6. This includes all classes and after school activities. While no student assignments are required during the closure dates of March 16 through April 3, we hope that students will make time to read and engage in some learning activities. Any updates concerning our schools or community will be provided as needed. Please refer to the websites for our school district and each individual school for additional information. I want to thank everyone for your understanding and partnership during this time of uncertainty. I look forward to the time when we can return to our schools with our students and employees.

Thank you,
Daniel Smith, Superintendent

From Daniel Smith, Superintendent of Oneonta City Schools

Due to concerns for the safety of our students and employees regarding the Coronavirus, the Oneonta City Schools System will cease all operations effective immediately. Beginning Monday, March 16, there will be no school for students or employees until our planned return on Monday, April 6. This cease in operations includes all classes and all after school activities. There will be no practices or contests of any kind until further notice. In the days to come, there will be more information provided regarding students’ assignments or other updates that are needed. Please know that we are experiencing a fluid and constantly changing event with the Coronavirus. It is the intent of myself and the Board of Education members to provide both a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and employees. For any other needs or information, you may contact 205-543-1515 option 1 for assistance. Thank you
